Hi Jen,
My gg grand parents where William Thomas Murphey and Mary Frances Jane Bradshaw. They where married in St. Andrew Parish Church 18-Oct 1836. The death record I found on www.familysearch.com stated he was born 1802, in St. Andrew. I was told that there are no records for St. Andrew Church before 1825, do to a fire all records were lost. They lived on Chalky Mount, Parish of St. Andrew. I did find 3 other marriages of Murphey dated around the same time and residing in St. Andrew.
James William Murphey married Margaret Ann Mansfield 13-Feb. 1826
Sarah Jane Murphey married John William Henry Cozier 19-Jan. 1828
Joseph William Murphey married Patricia Moore Bogany 21-Nov. 1829
Being they all lived in St. Andrew, maybe they are brothers and sister to William T Murphey.
This is my brick wall. Maybe we can bust it together, I hope so. Thanks,
EW

Would appreciate any information regarding these surnames. Also looking for information about Louis Johnson from the Happy Hill Johnson family, who left Grenada to work in another country as a principal and never returned to his wife and daughters, one being my deceased grandmother. Thank you.

Hello Tabatha. FYI, my late father, Clifford Eversley (1914 - 2000) was born and grew up in Colon, Panama. I wonder if he was related to 'your' Eversleys at all...!
The attachment photo was taken on 12/31/1979 and shows Clifford with my mother-in-law, Bertha Jones, on the left, and my mother, Inez Grant-Eversley, on the right holding my first-born son, Earl Francis Eversley Jr. With the exception of Earl Jr, everyone in the photo is now deceased.

Thanks! I'm actually looking for info on the William Murphey from the 1600s. I have the same issue with the fire or whatever destroying the records but I have my ancestors back to the 1700s I think but only people who were born in Barbados, and so I'm missing 2-3 generations to get back to Ireland I believe...and I found documentation of this ship captain William Murphey and figure he could be my ancestor that came over from Ireland. Most Irish came over as slaves as you probably know, but some were land owners and ship captains (in this case I think William transported the slaves). There were a couple Murphy's I remember seeing who were slaves as well but it seemed the timing and parishes didn't match up super well. Plus my great aunt was quite insistent that we were not descended from any type of slavery...but who knows.

I don't know as if we will ever figure it out!

Hi Karen, I am really happy to have finally read this response. So much has happened in the past few months that I haven't taken the time to check Ancestry.com. Aunt Yvonne did tell me about you but she didn't know how to reach you. She did mention that you had changed your name and thought you were living in DC. I'd love to get to know more about you so please respond when you can and let's chat soon.

I think I've traced my paternal line back to my great, great parents, John James Odle (with above variations) who married Damsel Ann Holder in St James, 1848. Their children were Samuel Richard, Nathaniel, Benjamin, Richard Henry, Joseph, Thomas Simeon, Solomon Augustus, Abraham, Mary Frances, William Francis, Jane Ann, Charles Edward and Esther Ann.

I think that Nathaniel was my great grand father. He married Mary Elizabeth Gibbes in 1872. Their children included Lavinia (?), Miriam Eunice (married a Springer), Blanche, Winifred, Cleopatra Bernice (my grandmother), Arthur Melvin, Solomon Augustus, Joseph Nathaniel, Lilian Eloise (?), Macgregor FitzAlleyne & Helena (went to Panama & then US).

Cleopatra married (Bertram) Alexander Wiltshire and had one child, Osfield Alexander Wiltshire (my father).

Some of this correlates with what I've been told by older relatives, but some does not. I'm looking for anyone who might be descended from any of the above to compare/confirm/ fill in missing info.

Looking for relatives of the Wiltshire/Dash/Inniss families, Barbados. My father was Osfield Alexander Wiltshire (1928-2009); My grandfather was (Bertram) Alexander Wiltshire (c. 1887-1963). His siblings included James & Helen. I think that my great grand parents might have been Rebecca Lister Boyce & Alexander Wiltshire (married in St James c 1882). Rebecca may have had a sister, Rachel, who may have married a Crichlow.

Wiltshires are related to Dash family of St Andrew.

Looking for relatives who may have more info.

Believe Ann Harding was born in Barbados and married Robert Cawston of the UK. Harriet Brathwaithe might have been her mother and this would be in the mid 1700;s. If anyone has information on this, it would be greatly apprecaited. Thanks
Sarita Cawston

Hello Mary, John Hollingsworh Porter is my Great Great Great Grandfather. I know he married Rebecca in Barbados in 1793 and he died in May 1837 aged 62. I have seen these records in Barbados.
What I would like to know is where he was born? Did he come originally from England or Ireland to America and then to Barbados? What was his profession?
One of his Sons William Samuel Porter was born 22/9/1815, he is my Great Great Grandfather. He married Sarah Bailey in Barbados on 20/4/1841 and he died in Barbados although I have been unable to find a true record of this.
I think he may well be a brother of John William Porter. Many thanks

Is it possible that the names Bovett and Connett, both listed as prisoners on the ships as shown above, were subsequently changed to Bovell and Connell. My grandfather was born in Barbados. His name and all of his siblings include the names Bovell and Connell. My uncle told me that the name Connell was originally Connett, but that the cross on the tts had been dropped in favor of Connell. Would love to hear your thoughts on this.

My grand Aunt's name was Violet Payne--she lived in St Phillips. Died some years ago but had four sons whom none of us know their names.
