Re: Birth Place: Br

I wouldn't think so, most likely Brazil. The two-letter country codes defined in ISO 3166 indicates BR as Brazil, but I'm not sure of the date it was implemented neither the date of your reference. I've seen Barbados referred to as BWI; British West Indies, the Caribbean.

The ISO code for Barbados is BRB. I've not seen the abbreviation Br refer to Barbados but I imagine it could conceivably be. Have you access to the original document and is it possible the transcription is inaccurate? But if you have sufficient other evidence to support the conclusion that Samuel Goode was born in Barbados then maybe the marriage certificate is not wholly accurate. Sorry I cant really help anymore, maybe someone else using this site has an idea.

I believe that my grandfather, David H Atherley and Robert J Atherley are related; but am unable to find the link. I have not been able to find Robert J Atherley's parents in the records thus far; nor have I found any birth or baptism records for my grandfather. Any idea where I might be able to find more information?

Hi everyone, my name is Richie Kennedy from Australia. I probably have information that you guys who like to see. In my family tree I have 3 generations of William Firebrace's from Barbados, the third William must have moved to Sri Lanka because his son Edward bell was born there (Kandy, Ceylon or is it Ireland ?) then on to Australia where my family now exists. Edward Bell Firebrace than had a child to my great great great grandmother and their son's name was also Edward, Edward Bell eventually married Minnie Gordon in Australia. Edward son of Edward Bell is my great great grandfather and I also have 7 generations of information above any William Firebrace's that were from Barbados, that trace back to Henry Fyrebrace of England.

Hello Allan
I am one of the Goddards from Barbados, and my paternal grandmother was a Hunt, from Barbados. She was Mary Lillian Hunt (and there is an alternative version Marylinn Hunte... same person ??), born in 1881. Her father was Wilkinson Hunt, mother was Anna Proverbs. There was apparently a sister and your grandfather would likely have been of their generation. Your reference to Rogers family connection could be similar to our connection to that family. There was either a friendship or some distant relationship, but "Turk" Rogers was well known to my family and he had married into another Goddard family in the island.
When grandmother Hunt married James Goddard sometime around 1903-04, her sister (name unknown to me) married James's brother (name also unknown to me), possibly around that same time. This couple left Barbados in the early 1920's and moved to Montreal, according to family lore. This is all that I have and , like you, I have come to an incomplete ending. Please let me know how this fits into your information if you see any connections to my side.
Best wishes, Jim (James Martin) Goddard

Hi! I am a bit new to this process, but I am also a descendant of the Brathwaites of Barbados. My great grandfather (name unknown) was either married to or had 6 children ( 3 in Barbados and 3 in Trinidad) with one Imelda or Melda from St Vincent. The first 2 children died soon after childbirth. The 3rd child, James, was born in Barbados but migrated to Trinidad with his parents. The other children (Alexandrine, Millicent, and Christopher were all born in Port of Spain and settled in the Laventille area. Any information would be helpful. Thank you!

Hi,,
I recently saw this old post and was interested in your relationship with our relatives. Lady Grace was my mother in laws first cousin. I have been trying to find out what happened to Genevieve after Tom died. Did she return to England or move to NY? Rawdon is living in France but I don't know what has happened to Douglas. I think he moved to England. If you are able to help me make contact with them that would be most helpful.
I would love to know what Lady Adams was like. Her father and my husbands grandfather Dudley Prescod Thorne were brothers. Are you aware if her mother Millicent ever married Alleck Thorne? What was Millie's maiden name?
How did Grantley meet Grace and how did Tom meet Genevieve.
We are trying to fill in some blanks in our family history and keep running into dead ends. Any info you can provide would be most helpful and appreciated. We would like to take a trip to Barbados in the next year or so and would like to find some living relatives of the Thorne's or the extended family.
Thank you in advance for any information you can provide
